- White cotton fabric: Cut (3) 2 1/2″ x width of fabric
- A: Subcut (8) 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
- B: Subcut (8) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″

Sewing Instructions:
This quilt is assembled by making two units for each heart, sewing those together, and adding the final pieces at the top and bottom edge.
- To begin the quilt, sew together three light pink G pieces, side-by-side. Set that aside.
- Sew the remaining three light pink G pieces side-by-side. Set aside.
- Repeat the same process of sewing three pieces together with the medium pink H and the dark pink I.
- Press the seams on all six units to one side. Set all aside.
- Sew one black E to the right-hand side of one white B. Sew a second black E to the left-hand side of the white B.
- Set that aside and sew three more units in the same manner.
- Sew one white B to the left-hand side of one black E. Sew a second white B to the right-hand side of the black E.
- Set that aside and sew a second unit in the same manner.
- Press the seams on all six units toward the black fabric.
- Using a fabric safe pen, draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all white A pieces and all black D pieces.
- On one light pink unit, with the seams running vertically, pin one white A right side down on the upper left corner with the drawn line running upper right to lower left.
- Pin a second white A on the upper right corner, with the drawn line running upper left to lower right.
- Stitch along the drawn lines on both squares.
- Trim off the corner 1/4” from the stitch line on both. Press the corners out with the seam toward the light pink.
- Repeat the same process with two more white A on the second light pink unit. Set aside.
- Repeat these steps with the four black D pieces and the two medium pink units.
- Press the seams toward the medium pink. Set aside.
- Repeat once more with the remaining four white A pieces and the dark pink units. Press toward the dark pink. Set aside.
- Lay out one EBE (black, white, black) unit with the seams running vertically and the wrong side up. Using a fabric safe pen, draw a diagonal line from the upper left corner to the lower right corner.
- Lay out one light pink unit with the seams vertical and the two white A at the top. Pin the black and white EBE unit right side down, even with the lower edge.
- Stitch along the drawn line. Trim off the corner 1/4” from the stitching. Press the corner out and the seam toward the light pink.
- On a second EBE (black, white, black) unit, with the seams vertical, draw a line on the wrong side from the upper right corner to the lower left corner.
- Lay out the second light pink unit with the seams vertical and white A pieces at the top. Pin the black and white EBE unit even with the lower edge.
- Stitch along the drawn line. Trim off the corner 1/4” from the stitching. Press the corner out and the seam toward the light pink.
- Repeat this process with the two medium pink units, using the BEB (white, black, white) units. Press the seams toward the medium pink.
- Sew the remaining EBE (black, white, black) units to the two dark pink units using the same method. Press the seams toward the dark pink.
- Pin the two light pink units with right sides together, matching the seams, and stitch to create a heart. Press the seam to one side.
- Do the same with the two medium pink units, and the two dark pink units.
- Sew one black F to the upper edge of the light pink heart. Sew one white C to the lower edge. Press the seams toward the black.
- Sew one white C to the upper edge of the medium pink heart (as you look at it with the heart upright – it will be flipped later) and one black F to the lower edge. Press the seams toward the black.
- Sew one black F to the upper edge of the dark pink heart and one white C to the lower edge. Press the seams toward the black.
- Lay out the three hearts side by side. Flip the medium pink heart in the center so that its bottom point is at the upper edge.
- Pin the right-hand side of the light pink heart to the left-hand side of the medium pink heart with edges even. Match black and white strip seams, making sure each corner section lines up, giving a consistent looking black or white long stripe across quilt.
- Press the seam to one side.
- Pin the right-hand side of the medium pink heart to the left-hand side of the dark pink heart with edges even. Match black and white strip seams, making sure each corner section lines up, giving a consistent looking black or white long stripe across quilt.
- Press the seam to one side.
- Lay the backing fabric out, right side down. Top with the cotton batting. Center the heart top over all, right side up. Pin well.
- Quilt as desired. Trim the backing and batting to match the top.
- Sew the binding around the edge to finish.
