- Fabric A (Red) – 1 yard
- Fabric B (White) – 1 yard
- Fabric C (Peach) – 3/4 yard
- Binding – 1/2 yard
- Batting – 42″ x 54″
- Backing – 44″ x 56″
ROTARY CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Fabric A (Red): Cut 6—2 1/2″ WOF strips, sub cut into 90—2 1/2″ squares
- Fabric B (White):
- Cut 9—2 1/2″ WOF strips, sub cut into 140—2 1/2″ squares
- Use Template A and cut out 68 triangles
- Fabric C (Peach):
- Cut 2—2 1/2″ WOF strips, sub cut into 17—2 1/2″ squares
- Use Templates B and C and cut out 136 triangle in a square sides –half of each shape
BORDERS CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Fabric A (Red): Cut 5—3 1/2” WOF strips for borders.
- Fabric C (Peach): Cut 4—1 1/2” WOF strips for borders.
BINDING FABRIC CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Cut 5—2 1/2″ WOF strips for binding.
Sewing Instructions:
NINE PATCH BLOCK: (MAKE 18)
Note: Press seams open on all blocks unless otherwise noted.
- Sew 2 A Red and 1 B White 2 1/2” squares together.
- Make 2 per block.
- Sew 2 B White and 1 A Red 2 1/2″ squares together.
- Sew nine patches together as shown with the A Red squares in the corners and in the center of the block.
- Make 18 blocks.
EIGHT POINTED STAR BLOCK: (MAKE 17)
Note: Press seams open on all blocks unless otherwise noted.
- Sew 2 C Peach Template B-C triangles to sides of 1 B White Template A triangle.
- Make 4 per block.
- Sew block together with 1 C Peach 2 1/2″ square in the center of the block, 4 triangle in a square blocks already made and 4 B White 2 1/2″ squares as shown.
- Make 17 blocks.
ASSEMBLE THE QUILT TOP:
- Lay out blocks in a 5×7 grid as shown, alternating nine patch and star blocks.
- Sew blocks together into rows, pressing seams open or in alternate directions.
- Sew rows together.
- Trim 2 C Peach 1 1/2″ strips to 32 1/2” and put aside.
- Sew leftover (approx.. 8”) sections to ends of remaining 2 C Peach 1 1/2″ strips and trim both to 42 1/2″ sew these to sides of quilt, press toward border strips now and throughout.
- Sew the 2 remaining 32 1/2″ border strips to top and bottom of quilt.
- Cut 1 A Red 3 1/2″ border strip in half and sew to ends of 2 other A Red border strips, trim both to 44 1/2″ and sew to sides of quilt.
- Trim remaining 2 A Red border strips to 38 1/2″ and sew to top and bottom of quilt.
Quilt and bind quilt.
