The period in between summer and fall will forever be a favorite of mine. Humid air gives way to cool breezes. A golden sun still shines, all be it lower now, and the world is still mostly green, only the tips of maple leaves revealing small pops of color – a hint at what’s to come in the next couple of months. The lower sun highlights the beauty of everything in a more dramatic way, casting longer shadows and golden light over familiar routes taken to work, to school, to wherever your fall plans lead you next. In this new issue of We Like Quilting, we capture the beauty of the season ahead with brand-new projects that are both aesthetically pleasing and practical. Kick off a new season of sewing with a simple upcycling project: the Olivia Log Cabin Jean Pockets Pattern. Breath new life into old jeans with a fun twist! Next, sew a set of apple placemats with Debbie von Grabler-Crozier or make your own star-filled quilt with a pattern from Preeti Harris. Discover the fascinating history of quilting during the Great Depression, check out this month’s editor’s picks, and more in our newest issue of We Like Quilting.
